Reading

60 minutes

Part 1

Contains 2 academic reading passages followed by  multiple choice questions;

Part 2

A Cloze passage (fill in the blanks with grammar or vocabulary items) is followed by multiple choice questions pertaining to the passage.

Writing

50 minutes

Students are presented with a statement or question related to any wide range of academic and non-academic topics.  They are given 5 minutes to brainstorm ideas related to it.   Students are given 45 minutes to produce a well-organized piece of writing in response to the statement/question on the test paper. 

Speaking

15-20 minutes

Students are tested in pairs

(and possibly group of 3)

Part 1

Warm-up question – 2 min.

(not evaluated)

Part 2

Paired discussion based on question/statement or visual presented to students.  – 10 min.

Part 3

Each student is asked a series of questions for spontaneous response.

3-5 min.
